Imagine this: you’ve finally asked your date out but lo and behold, your wallet and bank account are saying a big fat “NO” to that. Fret not, as we have here a list of 10 ways to make your date cheaper without coming off tacky.
1) Abuse these 1-for-1 offers
Who doesn’t love a good deal? There are numerous places that offer 1-for-1 deals for attractions that make for good places to bring your date. Some of these attractions include Night Safari, Wave House Sentosa and Adventure Cove!
For more information on such deals, you can check out our article about 1-for-1 offers!
2) Affordable things to do in town
Many people assume that anything related to going to town is expensive. However, that is not completely accurate. There are a number of affordable and fun things to do with your date in town that will not break the bank, like visiting Orchard Central’s rooftop garden as well as take Instagram-worthy pictures of each other at Orchard Gateway sky bridge and or reading at the Orchard Library.
3) Free things to do in Singapore
Singapore may be known to be one of the most expensive places in the world to live. However, that does not mean that we don’t have free and fun things to do. Depending on your date’s and your own tastes, some of these might turn out to be memorable and fun.
Have a look at our post about free things to do in Singapore for some ideas!
4) Free workshops in Singapore
When the term workshop comes to mind, many people immediately think of costly sessions of activities that will leave your wallet feeling a little empty after all the fun is over. We beg to differ with our list of free workshops in Singapore.

5) Go for a hike
What Singapore lacks in mountains, it makes up for it with tons of places for a solid hike. This is perfect for the physically active couple, as you could spend a day at places like Bukit Timah Nature Reserve, Fort Canning Park, MacRitchie Reservoir Park or even Pulau Ubin to break a sweat as well as spend some quality bonding time together.

6) Have a home-cooked dinner for 2
Dinner dates don’t always have to be at expensive restaurants that cost a fortune. Instead, show off your cooking skills by whipping up a meal at home for your date. Set the tables with some pretty candles and dim the lights to create a cosy, intimate atmosphere which is as good or even better than what you can get at a restaurant, without the people and overpriced food.

7) Have a movie night at an outdoor cinema
Watching a movie can get pretty costly, especially on the weekends. For a more interesting movie date idea, why not check out outdoor cinemas for free movie screenings? The atmosphere is different and in our opinion, much more romantic, which makes for a great date idea that you and your date will both definitely remember for a long time. Some places to catch such movies are at Palawan Beach, Peroni Sunset Cinema and Be My Kaki Bus.

8) Go museum hopping
The best thing about the museum scene in Singapore is that it is free or heavily discounted for all Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents, so you can do some museum hopping without feeling significantly poorer after. Singapore’s museums are great places to admire artwork (or make your date the artwork by snapping some gorgeous photos for the gram!)
9) Go thrift store shopping or visit a flea market
There is something strangely intimate about wandering around a thrift store and checking out old, preloved items that each hold plenty of memories from its previous owners. There are a number of thrift stores and flea markets in Singapore such as Salvation Army and Flea Party at Lucky Plaza. It isn’t the most glamorous idea, but it certainly is an interesting one to check out if the both of you are keen on trying something more unconventional!

10) Work out together
Another idea for the fitspo couple is to simply just work out together and no, we don’t mean get an expensive gym membership together. You can do fun and free activities such as go for a swim, have a night walk or trying out some HIIT exercises from the comfort of your own home. Youtube also has a plethora of fun workout videos that you can check out and try together. It also is quite a turn on to see your partner getting all hot and sweaty 😉
