The countdown starts for Singapore’s 53rd birthday celebrations! While there are many highlights during the festivities to look out for, undoubtedly, the display of fireworks every year is one of the highlights. Besides, you don’t have to ballot for any tickets — show up at these five suggested places below to catch the enthralling display!
Gardens By The Bay
Gardens by the Bay is a fantastic place for the whole family! There is a free water playground that your children can frolic in, or if you’re early, you can rent a bicycle and tour the park. Pack a picnic bag, or dine around the Bay East Garden, where there are some fast food outlets like KFC and McDonald’s.
At night, wait for the sun to set and find a spot to admire the burst of fireworks lighting up the sky. Best of all, if you pack your own picnic basket, you don’t have to pay for food.
East Coast Park Route
It may seem far away from the action but with Singapore’s flat terrain, rest assured that you’ll still be able to see the fireworks at night. Not only that, but you will also be able to spot the incoming helicopters that bear that national flag as they come along! The best thing is, there is a park connector that links Marina Barrage to the East Coast park route — perfect for a pleasant half an hour walk if you don’t fancy staying at Marina Barrage!
Sands Skypark Observation Deck at Marina Bay Sands
Climb atop Marina Bay Sands for a bird’s eye view of Singapore. You may have to pay ($23 for adults, and $17 for children over two), but you’ll get a view that is up close and personal without the need to squeeze with the crowds.
This one is for the couples! You get a grown-up menu of tasty cocktails and delicious mains such as steak and chicken cordon bleu, in a lovely alfresco setting. Dine your night away, and look forward to the fireworks that will light up the sky in the night. The Lantern Bar is a dining outlet in Fullerton Hotels. See more information here.
This hilltop destination is another one for the couples. Away from the maddening crowds, and with a perfect view of the Singapore skyline, you’ll get to enjoy the fireworks from afar. If you’re sporty or your other half is trying to get in shape, this is the perfect destination.
The hike up allows you to burn some calories and have some quality time bonding. Once you’re there, get a beer or two at Faber Bistro (check out the lovely view in the picture above) or Spuds & Aprons while you wait.
Whether you’re an aspiring photographer, looking for an option for date night, or fussing over where to bring the entire family on National Day, these places to catch the fireworks will provide you with a beautiful view and memorable evening.
