The first thing traveller encounters when entering a new country is their airport. As the saying goes, “first impressions are everything” and Singapore’s Changi Airport does exactly that with their crown jewel, Jewel Changi Airport.
Just what is Jewel, you ask? It is an extension of the world’s number one airport, with 280 shopping, dining and recreational spots, aimed at giving you, the travelled wanderer, a “preview” of what Singapore has to offer.
HSBC Rain Vortex
Standing tall at the heart of Jewel Changi Airport is the HSBC Rain Vortex, probably the most striking attraction of them all. Stretching across 40m and seven floors, the HSBC Rain Vortex broke record as the tallest indoor waterfall in the world. You can marvel at its splendor both during the day as sunlight hits the glistening water through the glass ceiling. At night, projected lights and sounds steal the show. If that doesn’t sound amazing enough, the water used is recycled rainwater, which reduces wastage and benefits the environment. If you’d like to relax and enjoy the view of the HSBC Rain Vortex, there are seats all around!
Shiseido Forest Valley
Surrounding the heart of the Jewel is the Shiseido Forest Valley, a lush, green sanctuary with over 900 trees and palms, and 60,000 shrubs. You will truly be able to experience the wonders of the Garden City as you walk the scenic trails of it.
On the top floor of Jewel Changi Airportis the Canopy Park, a recreational wonderland for all. From hedge mazes to bouncing nets and giant slides, the Canopy Park will definitely unleash the inner child in you. If it doesn’t, well, there’s always the charming diners and relaxing bar spots around too. The Canopy Park at Jewel only opens on the June 10th 2019, but hey, good things are always worth the wait, right?
Unearth exclusive treasures at Jewel Changi Airport with a multitude of shopping experiences! From uniquely-Singaporean brands like Naiise and Irvin’s to international names like Foot Locker and Timberland, Jewel Changi Airport will undoubtedly provide one of the most integrated and contemporary shopping experiences in Singapore! Plus, there are also top brands from around the world planting their first flagship stores outside of their country. Yes, you’ve definitely heard about it – the first official Pokémon flagship store outside of Japan. Watch your wallet guys, because this is definitely without a doubt a shopping paradise for all!
Foodies rejoice! Prepare to enter food heaven as Jewel Changi Airport presents a staggering list of 112 dining spots to choose from. From indulging in delicious Singaporean flavours at the Five Spice food court to biting into the juicy burgers of Shake Shack (the first in Southeast Asia!), and dining under the stars with mouth-watering cuisines from all around the world, there is definitely something to please every palate in this gastronomer’s dreamland! Seriously, there are endless choices. Novel flavours, nostalgic flavours, alfresco dining, wholesome eateries—you name it, they probably have it. To top it off, some places even have menu items exclusive to Jewel Changi Airport!
Before we forget, Jewel is still within an airport, so there are definitely the appropriate amenities and facilities too! If you want to explore Jewel before your flight without the hassle of lugging your bags around, there is an early check-in facility on the ground floor. If you’d like to rest and rejuvenate before your flight, Jewel is also home to Asia’s first YOTELAIR Hotel, which is available 24 hours, with ultra-flexible check-in and check-out timings. You can even book a cabin for just a few hours to nap! How thoughtful is that?
All that being said, there is no absolutely no way of picturing the true grandeur of Jewel Changi Airport other than to experience it up-close, first-hand. The question is: what’s holding you back?
